AR Rahman’s Hosanna – Lyrics and English Translation

Hosanna meaning in English and translation of Tamil song lyrics

Reflections

I didn’t like this song when I heard it for the first time. I rated it as an average one. However, when I watched the movie, I fell in love with this song.

WOW!……the song…is the first of the great songs…that followed in this musical love story……
Maybe it was the beautiful location of Malta where the song was shot…..or maybe it was the camera work…………….maybe it ws Vijay Prakash’s hip-hoppish….voice…or Blaaze’s akonish rap…..or it was simply that part…where STR…..plies on the telephone receiver….singing…HELLO!…..

Oh God!….it is the mood created by the song…..

While coming out of the Gurgaon multiplex on that hazy evening of February 2010, I was….just mumbling this song…..as I walked my way to IFFCO CHOWK…foreseeing a setting sun….over the Jaipur-Delhi Express Highway……………
A Lovely song……must hear……

By the way…this is what Wikipedia had to say about Hosanna……………. It is the cry of praise or adoration shouted in recognition of the Messiahship of Jesus on his entry into Jerusalem, Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord![3] It is used in the same way in Christian praise.
Overall, it seems that it is a cry for salvation; while at the same time is a declaration of praise. Therefore, it may be derived that this plea for help is out of an agreeably positive connotation.
The old interpretation “Save, now!” which may be a popular etymology, is based on Psalm 118:25 (Possibly “Savior”). This does not fully explain the occurrence of the word in the Gospels, which has given rise to complex discussions

LYRICS (Translation)

M: yen idhayam udaithaai norungave
en maru idhayam tharuven nee udaikkave
My Heart broke into pieces…
Let me give you another one to break… 😉

andhi neram andhi neram

kan paarthu kandhalaagi
pona neram… yedho aache..
oh vaanam theendi vandhachu
appavin thittu ellam
kaatrodu poye poche

At dusk…in the darkness
saw you…I fumbled
That’s when….something happened…in the dusky darkness
I crossed the skies in search of u and came back
While Dad’s scoldings have gone away with the wind

hosanna, en vaasal thaandi ponaaley
hosanna..verondrum seyyaamaley
naan aadipogiren
sukku nooraagiren
aval pona pinbu
endhan nenjai thedi pogiren

I pray, Coz I went past my doorstep
I Pray, Did nothing else…
I was shaken and shattered into pieces
Once she left I went searching for my heart

hosanna vaazuvukku pakkam vandhen
hosanna saavukkuu pakkam nindren
hosanna yenendraal kadhal enben
hosanna

I pray, Coz I came closer to life
I pray, I stood next to death
I pray, ask why, Coz its love
Hosanna

Everybody wanna know how I feel like, feel like, I really wanna be here with you.
Its not enough to say that we are made for each other its love that is Hosannah true.
Hosannah, will be there when you’re calling out my name.
Hosannah, feeling like my whole life has changed.
I never wanna be the same, its time we rearrange.
I take a step, you take a step and I’m here calling out to you..
Hello…Hellooooo…Hellooooo…
Ooooooooooooooo…

vanna vanna pattu poochu
poo thedi poo thedi
angum ingum alaikindrathey
oh sottu sottaai thottu poga
megamondru megamondru
engengo nagarkindrathey

Butterflies of vivid colors n shape…
fly here and there searching for the flowers
A cloud moves everywhere to touch every part of yours……

hosanna pattu poochi vandhacha
hosanna megam unnai thottacha
I pray, did the butterflies come?
I pray, did the clouds touch you?

kilinjal aagiraai, naan
kuzhandhai aagiren
naan unnai alli kayyil vaithu pothi kolgiren
hello hello hello yo hosanna

You became a sea-shell
while….I became a child
…picked u up…and held it in my fist….tightly
hello hello hello yo Hosanna

hosanna en meedhu anbu kolla
hosanna ennodu serndhu sella
hosanna UM endru sollu podhum
hosanna

I pray, to place love in me…

I pray, to get along with me
I pray, just say yes

hosanna

yen idhayam udaithaai norungave
en maru idhayam tharuven nee udaikkave

My Heart broke into pieces…
Let me give you another one to break… 😉
