When Old Friends Meet over Frappuccino

Starbucks Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato
When I landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday, I felt a tingling sensation in my tummy. I was coming back to the city where I had spent 15 years of my life, after a gap of 3 years! I was going towards that city which now was not known by it’s name anymore. The city is known as Gurugram now. Funny, nobody seemed to care about the name, or maybe they did. Nevertheless, the soul of the city remains unchanged. While departing from Mumbai, I had a Strawberry & Creme Frappuccino from Starbucks. The frothy sweet taste of the yummy beverage kept haunting me as I walked past the Starbucks at the IGI.

Hailing from the South Western part of India, I am by default, a mango buff. And when I saw this new seasonal Frappuccino displayed over at the Airport Starbucks, I really wanted to taste the Alphonso Mango Frappuccino. However, I had already ordered the Strawberry Creme Frappeccino.

Evening, Gurgaon

After a non-stop day, it was finally time to meet my old friends in the evening. As I was staying near Huda City Center Metro Station, I had called them over to the Starbucks store located there. Yes, the alphonso Frappuccino was on mind (I’m sorry my dear friends :D)

When Strangers Meet over Frappuccino

Meeting old friends after a long time is like meeting strangers all over again. Apparently, there were 3 of us and I tried to connect it with my first book When Strangers Meet. The 3 Strangers- Iyer, Jai & Hussein meet at Huda City Center metro station (although, there was no Starbucks there at that time), and over a cup of Cappuccino, Iyer narrates his life’s story to Jai. And that is the story of ‘When Strangers Meet..’. It was only a week ago that my publisher announced that we were going for the next edition of the book that was released in May 2013.

Coming back to the present (now 2 days’ past).

Salads and steaks had to take a backseat, more than anything else (more than the excitement of meeting my oldest buddies) I was looking forward to the yellow mango shake with thick whipped creme topping. And then finally I had it in my hand… The Alphonso Mango Frappuccino!

S’mores vs Alphonso Mango

While my friends went for a S’mores and a Chocolate flavored one, I simply stared at my love for sometime. Then I started sipping into her magnificent icy sugary creme blended taste. The Alphonso Mango Frappuccino looks simple and elegant from the outside, a layer of yellow mango shake blended with milk, sugar and ice that is topped with whipped cream.

When I took a sip of S’Mores that my friend was having, I almost got a rush of sugar in my head. ‘Coz it apparently contains marshmallow, if I am not mistaken.

So, for those who like a natural fruity sweetness, they should go for Alphonso or Strawberry Creme. While those who prefer sugary sweetness along with a tint of cafe (coffee), try S’Mores.

The Frappuccino Experience

Overall, I enjoyed my Frappuccino and as we talked about our school days and all the classmates who were getting married, I thought If I could get married to something as sweet as the beverage that I was having.

Since I had to conduct a creative writing workshop for school students the following morning, I had to end our meeting. It was already 11 and the city of Gurgaon, unlike Mumbai, was preparing to go to bed.

I will talk about my workshop and also about the wonderful in-flight experience I had with Vistara while returning home in another bog post. I guess, I had an overall good experience with different concerns owned by the Tata Group, it seems (At least on that day when I visited Gurgaon). For the time being, I will leave you with this delicious picture of Frappuccinos that we had the other day.
When Strangers meet over a Starbucks Frappuccino Mine was the yellow one, first one from the right! As far as I have heard, the seasonal flavors are gonna go off shelf soon, so, go get them before you end up craving for the same till next year!
