Zaalima (Raees) – Lyrics and Meaning

Zaalima Lyrics and Meaning in English
Film – Raees
Music – JAM8
Lyrics – Amitabh Bhattacharya
Singers – Arijit Singh and Harshdeep Kaur
My Rating – 8/10

So, we have an SRK flick coming up- Raees! Laila and Zaalima are two of the songs from the film. While we have Sunny Leone shaking it in Laila, Zaalima is all about SRK and his charisma. The first time I looked at the video, two things crossed my mind:

  1. The song sounded like Pee Loon from Once Upon a Time in Mumbai
  2. The music video looked like Guzarish from Ghajini

But then, you will stay there watching the song thanks to SRK’s hailing charisma and the mesmerizing voice of Arijit Singh. This is a song I am sure many people would love to listen repeatedly. Below is the song Zaalima lyrics with meaning in English (translation) from the movie Raees.

Zaalima Lyrics (English Translation)

Jo teri khaatir tadpe
Pehle se hi kya usse tadpana
O zaalima.. O zaalima..

The one who is longing for you already,
Oh Tormentor, why should are you tormenting me further?

Jo tere ishq mein behka
Pehle se hi kya usse behkana
O zaalima.. O zaalima..

The one who is already enticed in your love,
Oh Oppressor, why should you entice me further?

Aankhein marhaba
Baatein marhaba
Main sau mar taba
Deewana hua

Hail those eyes, Hail the words she speaks
I have become insane a hundred times already

Mera na raha
Jabse dil mera
Tere husn ka
Nishaana hua..

My heart isn’t mine since
It became the target of your body

Jiske har dhadkan tu ho aise
Dil ko kya dhadkana
O zaalima.. O zaalima

The one whose every heartbeat is you
Oh Merciless, where’s the need for that heart to beat?

Saanson mein, Tere nazadikyon ka
Itr tu ghol de, Ghol de

Just blend the scent of your proximity in my breath

Main hi kyun ishq zaahir karu
Tu bhi kabhi bol de
Bol de..
Why should I always be the one to say,
You should state your love sometimes.

Leke jaan hi jaayega meri
Kaatil har tera bahana hua
You shall leave with my life,
Every reason you give is a murderer

Tujhse hi shuru
Tujhpe hi khatam
Mere pyar ka fasana hua
It shall begin from you, It ends with you
Thus, is the story of my love

Tu shama hai toh yaad rakhna
Main bhi hoon parawana
O zaalima.. O zaalima
If you are the light of a lantern,
Oh tormentor, remember, I’m the moth that needs your light

Deedar tera milne ke baad hi
Chutte meri angdayi
Tu bhi bata de main zaalima kyun kehlaayi..

Only when I see you face to face,
Does my breath come back,
Tell me how am I being called a tormentor then?
